The definition of the research objective

We have to learn how to accomplish our research design for our dissertation. In the beginning of the research, we need to find the research objective, prior research in this area, methodological considerations and the value of the research. So far, I have some problems that the definition of research topic and the methodological considerations affect my dissertation progress, so that I need to get the more information of my researches and tutorial to make a great of progress in developing the dissertations. For example I would like to research the brand events, but I did not find any clear definition of the brand event what are the brand events.
